Corporate education for every poor student: Bhatti

Hyderabad City Police have deported a Nigerian national, Ikechukwu Sylvester Mbah, for overstaying in India without valid documents and allegedly associating with drug peddlers. The action was taken as part of an ongoing crackdown on foreign nationals involved in undesirable activities.

According to police, Mbah, 40, originally arrived in India on a business visa in 2012 and operated a clothing trade between Mumbai and Nigeria. However, in 2019, he was arrested by Taloja Police in Navi Mumbai for violating the Passport Act. After serving two years in Central Prison, Navi Mumbai, he moved to Ulwe, where he reportedly lived with individuals involved in drug trafficking.

“On February 5, 2025, Mbah was found loitering suspiciously in Humayun Nagar. When questioned by officers, he failed to provide valid identification or a legitimate reason for his presence in Hyderabad,” said the police.

A thorough inquiry revealed that he had overstayed his visa and was residing in India illegally. Following due legal procedures and coordination with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), authorities deported him to Nigeria.

Hyderabad Police have urged the public to remain vigilant about foreign nationals overstaying their visas, particularly those involved in drug-related activities.

The Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) has expressed concern over the rising drug abuse problem and appealed to parents to monitor their children’s activities. Citizens with any information related to drug abuse are encouraged to contact H-NEW at 8712661601.
