Amaravati is being built in 5,000-acre land with an estimated budget of ₹64,000 crore and not even a single money from the taxes paid by the people is being spent for the construction of the world-class capital city, said MA&UD Minister Ponguru Narayana at a review meeting in the Nellore Collectorate on Wednesday.

“Of the 5,000-acre land secured from the farmers for the construction of the capital, 1,200 acres has been allotted for the establishment of international and national-level educational institutions, schools and industries. After providing all amenities, the rest of the land will be sold at a good price and the amount will be used to clear the debts taken for the construction of the capital,” he said.

Mr. Narayana said that Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has designed Amaravati as a wonderful city with his vast experience. He informed that ₹64,000 crore has been approved by the administration for the construction of the capital city, while the officials have already called for tenders for ₹50,000 crore.

“HUDCO, ADB Bank and World Bank are mobilising funds and spending on the construction of the capital city. About Rs. 6,000 crore has been allocated for the capital in the latest budget. The CM has assured to allocate more funds, if required. We will be transparent in the matter of capital city and there will be no manipulations,” he said.

“We are proceeding according to the Standard Schedule of Rates (SSR) rates and funds are not being diverted as done by the previous government,” said Mr. Narayana, urging the people of the State not to believe the words of the opposition in the matter of the capital city.
