Man arrested in arson case

The Thumba police arrested one person on Wednesday in connection with an arson attack that damaged several vehicles parked outside a house a day ago.

The accused, identified as Sajith, 38, of Valiyaveli, allegedly set fire to a car, two scooters, a motorcycle and a bicycle in the early hours of Tuesday. The fire completely destroyed the two-wheelers, while the car sustained partial damage.

Sajith, who is married to the sister-in-law of the complainant Rakesh, is suspected to have committed the crime following a family dispute. The police were able to identify him using CCTV footage recovered from the area.
